This Is the Place: ZCMI’s Cast-Iron Facade

A piece on the ornate cast-iron facade of ZCMI, once billed as America’s first department store, and the preservationist effort to save the storefront when the rest of the building came down — it now stands, oddly, as the entrance to a downtown Salt Lake City mall.
