Each year Salt Lake magazine surveys the state’s dining scene and hands out its Dining Awards, and the 2024 edition rounds up 15 Best Restaurants across the state, an Outstanding Restaurant of the Year, and a set of Utah Classics recognizing places that have kept their standards high for years. The package also spotlights five Ones to Watch newcomers and a handful of specialty honors, the kind of just-because awards for hospitality, community service and good bread that make the issue as much a tribute to the people behind the food as a ranking of it. A panel of local food writers weighed in on the picks, reflecting the range of palates and expertise that goes into narrowing a year’s worth of eating out across the state into a single, definitive list.
